Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,

Give us this day our daily bread,

Origin of the Our Father
The Our Father, also known as the Lord's Prayer, was taught by Jesus Christ to His disciples. It is recorded in the Gospel of Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4. It is the most well-known and frequently recited prayer in Christianity worldwide.
Meaning of the Our Father
The Our Father contains seven petitions that encompass both the spiritual and material needs of humanity. The first three petitions focus on the glory of God: His name, His kingdom, and His will. How to Pray the Our Father
